Not so long ago I spend a few
days in one of my new favourite places in India, during a month long India
I have been travelling to
India many times now and have always loved getting away from the big, busy
cities for some respite in a more rural idyll. The cities in India are vibrant
and fascinating, but the hassle levels and general stress of city life do wear
you down after a while. So after Delhi, Agra and Jaipur it was great to arrive
in Orchha and get some real down time during my India travel adventure.
Orchha’s name actually
translates to ‘hidden place’ which suits it well. Geographically and in Indian
terms it is not far from Agra to Orchha, but it feels worlds away.
The train took me from Agra to
Jansi station. It was then a short drive on to Orchha. The traffic decreased as
we left the train station behind and suddenly there was peace all around with
just the occasional car and bullock cart on the road.
My driver took me along
roughly sealed roads and through town, past some simple but well-maintained
homes, in lovely Indian shades of aqua blue and parrot green. There were cows,
goats and children wandering by, the occasional tractor, cyclist and sadhu.
Life had definitely slowed down to a more languid and relaxed pace. Interesting
and ancient ruins were strewn about the region and cropped up at the roadside
I checked into my lovely
hotel. It had the feel and style of a rambling old palace with courtyards,
manicured gardens and very spacious rooms with traditional hand painted detail
trimming the ceilings and around the light fittings. It had bags of character
and personality and the staff were obviously happy and well looked …

Travelers – Ecuador is a tiny country in the South America that has a lot to
attract everyone towards its land and shore. The country features a great
amount of bio-diversity and has become a center of attraction for its diverse
natural beauty and warm hospitality. People who come to Ecuador generally
plunge into cruise services around the Galapagos Islands. However, the country
has a pristine mainland that holds every traveler who comes here once.
Travelers who love history and
dig from the past will simply love the city of Quito which has a remarkable
past. What could be other interesting way to witness the finest colonial
impressions and architecture? In addition, shoppers can find their ultimate
place at a nearby Otavalo market wherein they can discover various indigenous
items for sale. Adventurous souls can actually discover hiking pleasures at
Cotopaxi National Park, a few kilometers drive from Quito, the ancient city.
You can also enjoy your exploration into the east of the Amazon region and
hobnob with the perfect setting of rainforest tours, cruises, wildlife tours,
comfortable jungle ecolodges etc.
In Ecuador, you can find the
Andes range which runs through the middle of the country. The highest peak is
measured at 6,000m (19,685ft). The country has numerous volcanoes, half of them
Being a wet area, the Oriente
is enveloped by thick jungle and a string channel of rivers, all of them carry
water from the Andes into the Amazon River. Oriente is one of the more fertile
and bio-diverse area of Ecuador.
A mesmerizing island,

Arizona is an incredibly
gorgeous for hiking adventure travel, wildly diverse state with topography
ranging from low level desert landscapes, to high mountain peaks and alpine
forest ranges. More than any other geologic feature though, Arizona is widely
renowned for its many beautiful and remote rock canyons, deep slot gorges, water
falls and pools which are scattered throughout the state. However, what I find
even more amazing, is that many of these backcountry wilderness canyons can be
accessed through “non-technical” canyon hiking routes which don’t
require ropes and are literally within a single day’s trip from either Phoenix
or Tucson. For an excellent late summer to early fall day trip and hike, if
you’re up for more of an exciting challenge and an extraordinary and scenic day
trip, then take a mountain sliding, canyoneering hiking adventure to Seven
Cataracts, and explore Willow Canyon, Tucson, Arizona.
It was the Labor Day holiday
and early on Sunday morning that I left Phoenix, about 6am, heading out of town
on I-10 East and arrived in Tucson by 7:30am. At the Ina Road exit, I swung off
the freeway and took a left, heading east 8 miles, and met up with the TLC
Hiking Group, led and organized by Eric Kinneman, at the Westin La Paloma
Resort and arrived by 8am. Because the parking was said to be limited at the
trailhead for this hike, we carpooled it together and set out for the day’s
hike and journey heading east on Sunrise Blvd. by 8:25am.
The beautiful drive on Sunrise
Blvd across the northern stretches of Tuscon and through the rolling foothills
of the gorgeous Santa Catalina mountains has always been a favorite of mine.
The Santa Catalina Mountains are Tucson’s highest mountain range reaching all
the way up to 9157 feet in elevation …
